Carson City, NV, July 1, 2019: Casey Neilon is pleased to announce today that Darsi Casey, Managing Shareholder of Casey Neilon, recently traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to strategize with Alliott Group’s international leadership team. The conference, entitled Together Towards Tomorrow, included leaders of accounting and law firms from 29 different countries.
“It was a great experience being in Dubai and interacting with leaders of firms like Casey Neilon,” states Darsi. “The risk we all face as leaders is that we’ll fall prey to siloed thinking. Many of us experience similar types of challenges and try a variety of approaches to resolving them. But when you get a chance to hear from other people about what has and has not worked for them, it’s very enlightening. I know that we are better prepared to serve our local clients in the US because of what I’ve learned through the Alliott Group.”
The Alliott Group alliance, with 160 member firms in 65 countries and with a new COO (Giles Brake) and Executive Office team in place, is on a growth trajectory in 2019. Eleven new firms have already joined this year. The Alliott Group leadership team has its sights set on becoming a Top 10 ranked global alliance by 2021.
Leaders of professional service firms gather in Dubai, UAE, to envision the future. The Together Towards Tomorrow conference includes firm leaders from 29 countries and our very own Darsi Casey, who you can see on the top row in the center.
Darsi rose to the position of Deputy Worldwide Chair for Alliott Group in early 2019. This conference was Darsi’s second chance to fulfill duties as Deputy Worldwide Chair and the first opportunity to do so outside the United States. The Deputy Chair role allows Darsi to brainstorm with other leaders about the future direction of Alliott Group and to identify focus areas that will benefit the membership.
“I also had an opportunity to speak in the Spotlight Series. This is where members share real-world stories of how they’ve leveraged the Alliott Group network to serve clients. We recently had a client who needed a valuation and reorganization that required a team of people we simply did not have available at the time. I was able to bring in an Alliott Group member firm to help this client in a timely manner from a service provider I trust. Because the member vetting process is rigorous, I know I have people in the network I can count on to serve clients well.”
The conference included speakers such as leading economist Michael Weidokal who warned that the pace of technological, demographic and political change is accelerating and that “a battle for global technological supremacy is underway.” Arif Amiri, CEO of the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority, explained the Dubai Plan 2021. This government plan includes a ‘Smart City’ strategy that encompasses widespread use of blockchain and AI driven technologies.
Bronwyn Williams explained why many sectors (such as law and accounting) are at risk from disruptive technologies and start-ups. Keynote speaker James Taylor advised that we should not fear technology but focus on use of human creativity to augment the impact of technology: “In many areas, due diligence for example, we cannot compete with machines.” Creativity was cited as the number 1 skill humans must reclaim in order to thrive in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
“This conference certainly fulfilled my expectations” states Giles Brake, COO of Alliott Group. “We have an ambitious vision for Alliott Group and for how we can empower member firms to be effective leaders in a rapidly changing global landscape. Technology disruption is very real and we are looking for strategies to anticipate what’s coming and to take advantage of it. Darsi Casey’s leadership role with our alliance is helping us achieve that mission.”
